Semantic relationships in noun-juxtapositions of terminology

Abstract

Thesis for a Candidate degree in Philology, specialty 10.02.01 – Ukrainian language. – Donetsk National University, Vinnytsia, 2015. The thesis is devoted to the research of terminological noun-juxtapositions and establishment the typology of semantic relations between their components . The noun-juxtapositions are regarded as a special lexical category which based on different types of semantic relations between components and has characteristic features for such words as constant nomination, idiomaticity and integrated design. For the first time in Ukrainian linguistics it has been made attempts to explore fully the semantic relations between components of terminological nounjuxtapositions. Classification of their semantic relations are offered. The basic manifestation of relations between unequal semantic (hyper-hyponyms relations, similarity relations) and equal semantic (synonymous and antonymous relations) components of such nouns are analyzed. Their lexical-semantic groups, the main criteria of noun-juxtapositions isolation as independent lexical and grammatical units are determined by the author.
