Formation and Development of Principles of Law in Medieval Ukraine

The dissertation is devoted to substantiating new scientific provisions on the process of formation and development of general legal and branch principles of law in the territories of medieval Ukraine during the 9th – first half of the 17th centuries, identifying patterns and features of this process.
Chapter 1 «History and Source Base for the Study of the Formation and Development of Principles of Law in Medieval Ukraine», the state of scientific development of the problem is investigated and the source base of the study is analyzed.
Chapter 2 «Formation of General Legal Principles in Medieval Ukraine» the evolution of such general legal principles as justice, freedom, equality and humanism, their content and implementation in the norms of medieval law is investigated.
Chapter 3 «The Genesis of Branch Principles of Medieval Law in Ukraine and Their Influence on the Formation of the National Legal Tradition», the features of the emergence, formation, and regularities of the development of the principles of civil and criminal law, as well as the principles of justice during the 9th – first half of the 17th centuries, are analyzed.
