Formation of informal anthroponymicon on the territory of Vinnychchyna.

Abstract

The nicknames of the inhabitants of Vinnychchyna are fully studied in this thesis with the purpose to examine thoroughly this vocabulary category on the nationwide background. 4000 relevant units are analyzed which were collected during 2011-2015 year in over 100 inhabited localities of 27 regions of Vinnytsia oblast and in the town of Vinnytsia.

The history and the current condition of the nickname study in the native linguistics are depicted, the linguistic status of a nickname is clarified, the category of the nickname is isolated from the pseudonyms and other antroponymy categories; methods of the research, ways of assignment and general aspects of nickname functioning are outlined. The principles and reasoning of nickname nomination of the inhabitants of Vinnychchyna are determined, in particular – statistic characteristics, reasoning according to the character of the bearer, connotation of peculiar nicknames. The issue of postnominal and from-appellative denomination in the sphere of nicknames is cleared up and formal-semantic transformation in informal anthroponymicon on the territory of Vinnytisa oblast is elucidated. The general grammar characteristics of nicknames are outlined; vocabulary-semantic and morphological ways of formation are described as well as phonetic modification as a specific type of derivation of informal regional denominations.
